Hey, here's my two cents:

I think a lot of what we do is to establish or protect our identity. And I think our identity has a huge amount to do with what happened to us when we were young. Identity has a lot to do with where we feel comfortable, how we communicate with the world, how we measure our own value, all that shit. And I do think our primal brain structure matters a lot more than our conscious choices -- as far as identity goes anyway.

Also -- blah blah blah.

I don't think anybody really knows, but, I would read this shit by the bucket load if you produced some more of it.

You should make more blog entries. I'll read 'em.

The seeming dichotomy of abortion and healthcare is really very simple.

If we don't have as many babies we can afford to take care of everyone.

If we force every woman who gets pregnant to carry to term under any and all circumstances then we can't possibly afford to take care of everyone.

I haven't quite figured out where the "Death Panels" come into play though.

People defy Freud's pleasure principal all the time. I'm not go because I can't say for sure but I can put forward two ideas. 1 - they return to situations they are familiar with. They know how to calm down a man with the shakes and DTs but they might not feel comfortable laughing and chatting with a normal guy at a fancy dinner. 2 - that little voice is trying to get you back to the old situation because deep down you are driven to master that situation, you think you can do better this time. If your last girlfriend committed suicide then it's likely you'll get sucked in by some other self terminating basket case, because you can't watch another person die. Once she gets you she'll keep up those behaviors that landed you in the first place.
Thus the cycle goes on.
